Why Your Volleyball Team Did Not Make State

Don’t be too discouraged if your volleyball team did not make state! There are a few reasons why that could have happened and you cannot be too quick to blame yourself or your teammates. Perhaps, the volleyball program at your school is not large enough to generate too much interest. If there are not enough interested students in playing the sport, the team does not have the advantage of picking the best among many, rather accepting anyone that is interested. This can be remedied by drawing more positive attention to the team and hunting out some solid athletes that would have otherwise never made their way to a try out. Another reason includes not enough time at practice. We know that everyone has many commitments, especially students, but its especially important to insure the team is getting enough practice time in. Find a way to arrange practices around the whole team’s schedule. For some members, this might mean making sacrifices and picking the most important activity. Make sure volleyball is your number one after school activity and make everyone feel that kind of commitment to the team and you’re certain to do better and ultimately make state. Keep on trying!
