Volleyball is a universal sport played by about 800 million people. Many young men and women enjoy playing this sport. It’s a fun sport to play, and you make friends with the same interests as you. A huge perk of playing volleyball is that it gets you in tip top shape. It increases your hand-eye coordination, which is important because otherwise it’s hard to interact properly with anything you see. It also gives you fast reflexes which is also important so you aren’t a slowpoke when something happens to you. You can learn to be a good team player, and how to cooperate with each other to result to good teamwork. Good sportsmanship is key in life. You won’t always have a choice with who you are working with in school, work, wherever it may be. Volleyball can actually teach you some valuable lessons for the future. It’s a hardworking sport, so for those of you who love giving your 110, volleyball is for you! Volleyball gives you toned legs like no other sport knows how to. It will get your body in perfect shape in no time, and it’s not just for how you look, but it will make you feel 10 times healthier once you start playing!

Any sport, no matter what level it is played at from professional to minor leagues, to a children league, is a great way to bring a town or city together, and really show a sense of pride. Sports are a great team building activity, and is a great way for people to come together and really connect with one another. No matter what your gender, race, religious affiliation, or other demographics, during a game, of whatever sport is being played, all fans are cheering for the same team, and can really be brought together by a victory and hard won battle.

Sports is one activity, which can bring all people together. It is a time to watch a game, forget about all your stresses and worries, and just root for your team. So, using sports as a team building and bringing a sense of pride to your city or state, is something which any sports team can do for the people who live in the area. A sense of pride goes a long way, and gives the victors bragging rights, until the next game. No matter what sports you love, building winning is a great way to bring pride to the team and the fans.

Schools should support volleyball more often because it gives young woman and men the opportunity to be part of a team and really gives them an understanding of what it takes to be physically active. Although the sport does not get as much local attention as other sports, it is important to give these athletes the attention that they deserve. Every athlete in high school needs the opportunity to showcase their talents to the community and schools need to support these endeavours with adequate funding and recognition. Student athletes are less likely to become involved in activities that will hamper their high school and future lives so schools must recognize this. They must take a proactive approach to giving these athletes what they need so that they can learn how to better become active citizens. Sports do more than just give students something to do. Volleyball is a sport that teaches students how to work together with one another, how to support one another, and how to deal with adversity when times are bad. These skills are essential for everyone to have and schools must recognize this and support their volleyball teams because they are the future of our country. The information party rocks on: Scholarship Promised, Scholarship Lost

The Georgia Bulldogs Women’s Volleyball program at the University of Georgia is one of the most competitive in its division and its spring season was no different. The Lady Dawgs soundly defeated several opponents while working on bonding and technical elements together during spring training this year. Training concluded last week with a trip to Wilmington, North Carolina over the Dawgs’ Spring Break.
Coaches are hopeful that the team will successfully finish out the spring volleyball season later this month then continue practice over the summer in preparation for the more highly competitive fall volleyball season. Sand training was used in this year’s spring training season to better prepare the women for extended matches in the fall.
Finishing eight in the SEC for the 2010 season, the Lady Dawgs hope to have a stronger performance next year. With a disappointing 15-17 overall record, the team and coaches have a lot of work to do to get prepared for a strenuous season in one of the most competitive conferences in the country. The fall season begins in mid-September and the schedule has yet to be released but the team expects to travel a great deal, particularly to Atlanta. The ladies say they hope to find time to attend a Braves game as well as get outdoors in Atlanta and security is preparing for the travel by researching at www.atlantahomesecurity.com. More updates on the team’s progress will come once the fall season begins.

There are a number of reasons why high school volleyball is a good sport. For starters, it is a really fun sport to watch. Volleyball gives athletes a chance to show their athleticism and skill in a quick paced sports environment. It takes some incredible hand-eye coordination to hit a volleyball being spiked at someone, and it takes just as much skill and hard work to become a good server, setter, or striker. Volleyball showcases a lot of athletic talent in a quick and fun environment; which makes it a great spectators sport.

Besides high school volleyball being a fun sport to watch with great athletes, there are a lot of social and life lesson learned by the players. Volleyball is a game where you have to work together as a team. Players have to be on the same page, they need to be able to communicate effectively, and good teams trust that their players will be in the right position. These are all very important skills to learn and are something that players are going to use in future careers and athletic events.

The team aspect of volleyball is great as well. Players have to spend a lot of time being active and practicing together. This creates for a fantastic bonding experience. It allows high school students to share the same experiences which include winning, losing, and working hard to achieve goals. It is also the foundation for some great friendships that players will develop over time.

It is also important to be able to support these athletes. Volleyball gives high school students a chance to participate in sports and stay active. It is always great to see young students being active in something that they enjoy, and anytime high school students are being active in something productive, that is a good thing.

Don’t be too discouraged if your volleyball team did not make state! There are a few reasons why that could have happened and you cannot be too quick to blame yourself or your teammates. Perhaps, the volleyball program at your school is not large enough to generate too much interest. If there are not enough interested students in playing the sport, the team does not have the advantage of picking the best among many, rather accepting anyone that is interested. This can be remedied by drawing more positive attention to the team and hunting out some solid athletes that would have otherwise never made their way to a try out. Another reason includes not enough time at practice. We know that everyone has many commitments, especially students, but its especially important to insure the team is getting enough practice time in. Find a way to arrange practices around the whole team’s schedule. For some members, this might mean making sacrifices and picking the most important activity. Make sure volleyball is your number one after school activity and make everyone feel that kind of commitment to the team and you’re certain to do better and ultimately make state. Keep on trying!

The best high school volleyball team is the St. Francis Lancers from Mountain View, California. Coached by Ms. Leahi Hall this team is ranked No. 1 in the state of California as well as the Nation. Their overall stats are 35-5-0 and their league stats are 6-0-0. They have an outstanding record. St. Francis is a Catholic College Preparatory School with some amazing athletes. The school’s motto is Educating Hearts and Minds in the Holy Cross Tradition. My friend Jason attended a Catholic Church and invited me to go with him. I wanted to learn how to become a catholic, http://www.ehow.com/how_5898076_convert-catholisism-become-true-catholic.html offered great information. The Lancers came a long way in their 2010-2011 season from their ranks in their 2009-2010 season. Their previous National Rank was 25th and their State Rank was 12th. Their stats from last season were Overall 27-6-0 and for their League 3-2-0. They had the same coach both seasons, but their perseverence brought them up to the No. 1 spot. You have to admire the determination and dedication it took for this team to overcome last season and play their way to the top. So if you are interested in high school volleyball keep an eye on the Lancers. Let’s see if they can keep it up!

High school volleyball is a fall sport, but in order to succeed it will require a year round effort. Great players aren’t made on the first day of practice, rather are primed and ready long before the first serve. So what should you be doing to keep in top form during the “down” months?First things first, relax There’s no shame in taking a little time off to recuperate. After all, the season should be exerting and you will need time to settle down, both physically and mentally, no matter whether your team walked away with the State Championship or came up short. Just be sure your time off doesn’t include any activity that will negatively impact your mind or body.Enjoy Other Sports Succeeding at volleyball doesn’t necessarily pigeonhole you as a one-sport athlete. Whether basketball, softball or lacrosse, adding another sport will help to not only keep you in shape but keep the competitive juices flowing, while maintaining hand eye coordination. Not to mention, practice and game schedules will help to distract you from the off-season temptations of letting your relaxation period extend well beyond advisableCircuit Training It is important that your exercise regimen resembles the pace of a volleyball game in order to prepare appropriately. As a result, long periods of continuous, endurance exercise, though very beneficial for your overall health, will not be nearly as beneficial for volleyball purposes. Circuit training consists of set periods of high energy expenditure, whether resistance or aerobic training, followed by short breaks, setting up similar to a volleyball match, where there are brief periods of standing around and breath-catching in between points.

Another exciting volleyball season has come to pass in the Georgia High School ranks, finishing with several familiar faces in the top spot, adding trophies to already well adorned cases. Here’s a brief look at how each school took home state honors across the classifications, and the road taken to get there:AAAAA Walton: Running a 42-7 cumulative record, Walton not only entered the postseason as the odds on favorite to walk away with AAAA bragging rights, but encountered little opposition on their way to a title. Sweeping their way past Alpharetta, Kennesaw Moutain, Collins Hill, Lassiter, all in succession, Walton didn’t stumble heading into their state championship matchup against Northview. The second game of their final match would mark the only blemish on Walton’s postseason record, a narrow 25-27 tiebreak loss. Still, winning the 1st, 3rd and 4th games by margins of 25-20, 25-21, 25-1, respectively, Walton overcame their first true test on its way to the AAAA crown.AAAA Pope: Though in years past Pope and Walton have had to duke it out for state titles, with Pope at AAAA this season, the path was clear for both programs to end the season on top. Pope followed up last year’s AAAAA win by cruising to victory at the AAAA level, a demotion that obviously doesn’t correspond with talent level, as Pope has shown the school can hang with the best competition the state has to offer. Like Walton, Pope did truly face a challenge on the scoreboard until their state championship matchup against Chattahoochee. Holding on in a tight first game that pushed the 30-point barrier, Pope secured victory by a score of 30-28, 25-23, 15-25, 25-21.AAA Woodward: Winning 18 games and losing zero, Woodward put forth arguably the most dominant playoff and championship performance seen in the 2010 Georgia High School Volleyball State Championships. Woodward marked its third consecutive state championship, besting Sandy Creek, last season’s AAAA champs in the finals.AA/A All season, the AA/A division was a two horse race, the chalk held in the state playoffs, with Blessed Trinity and Athens Academy both bringing unbeaten 15-0 postseason marks into the championship game. Considering the season long buildup leading into the matchup, Blessed Trinity disposed of Athens Academy with relative ease, winning 3 straight games by the scores of 25-21, 25-15 and 25-16.

Technically a playoff will decide the final fates of AA/A volleyball squads, but no matter the set-up if seems as if only two teams have emerged as the elite class of the 2010 high school volleyball season. If brackets allow it, look for a Blessed Trinity vs. Athens Academy finals to decide the state championship, as few other teams have displayed similar levels of dominance or consistency.Blessed Trinity currently sits at 52-7, not only racking up an unsurpassed win total in any class of play, but losing one game to Georgia schools within the AA/A ranks. Woodward Academy, a AAA powerhouse defeated the Titans twice, while AAAA juggernauts Pope and Chattahoochee also got the better of Blessed Trinity, one time a piece. Two of the remaining three losses, came from out of state foes, in the form of Independence, TN and Dobyns Bennett, TN. Not to say the Titans haven’t held their own in out of division competition, posting an impressive wins against AAAAA power Walton and winning one back against Chattahoochee and Dobyns Bennett to split each series. The sole loss in AA/A came to Wesleyan, who has shown bright spots throughout a disappointing campaign, though only disappointing by Wesleyan’s standard of excellence.Athens Academy has lost just 3 games on the season, next to 46 wins, however, one of those 3 losses came in their only contest against Blessed Trinity. Athens Academy’s two other defeats came to Alabama schools McGillen-Toolen and Grissom. Though Athens Academy’s schedule was not as stringest as that of Blessed Trinity, they did knock off the same Wesleyan squad that upset the Titans, and went unbeaten against the lesser of AAAAA/AAAA teams on their schedule.Whatever the outcome, the AA/A State Playoffs should be an exciting event for all schools involved, with more than a few Cinderellas hoping to steal the spotlight from these two heavy favorites down the season’s final stretch.
