Improving your volleyball game can be very rewarding to you and your team. Ways to improve are first and foremost, listen to your coach. This person has already been where you are now and has educated themselves to teach you the game. Nothing can be more beneficial than a good coach. They are on the side and can see from a perspective you can not. They understand the game inside and out as well as ways to combat bad habits on the court. Next, increase your workout time and intensity. Nothing can hurt you more than getting exhausted half way through the game. Build up the stamina in your body so you are able to go the distance. The third thing I would be sure of is the positioning of your hands for returning the ball. Bad positions have caused many out of bounds balls that could have been points for your team. Practice the proper hand hold over and over till it becomes automatic. Fourth, I would keep a watchful eye at all times on the ball in play. Make sure every ball is one that is in play and not on its way out of bounds. Do not take unnecessary chances returning balls that are going out of bounds. Those are already points for you. The last thing is play as a team member. Do not try to be the hero and go after every ball over the net. Let your team help win the game.
